On Saturday, December 3, 2022, SDP President Peđa Grbin held a public forum "Better Work, Better Life" in Osijek, where he presented SDP's proposals for the reform of labor legislation." The fight for wages and the fight for people's standards is a struggle that we have to fight every day and it always matters.

However, in an age of inflation in an age of rising prices, it becomes a crucial, crucial, most important battle for which politics, society and the state must fight," Grbin said. Sdp proposed two concrete measures that we can take already today that should provide citizens of the Republic of Croatia with higher salaries. One is to increase the tax-free base so that through reducing the tax burden of work, people are left with more money in their pockets. HDZ has given up on it, they do not have the courage to do so, they do not have the courage or desire to ensure that people through the tax relief of work ensure that they have more money left to cover their daily expenses. The second fight is the struggle through labor law. Through the labor law, we proposed a whole range of measures that should improve the position of workers but also ensure higher wages. Of all this, HDZ agreed only to a one-in-a-salary increase on Sundays," he explained. Grbin also commented on HDZ's attitude towards overtime work in the context of the accepted proposal to increase salaries only for working on Sundays." And what about overtime? Are there not those who, in addition to their regular eight hours, have to do one more two or four hours every day? Don't they have the right to be paid extra and adequately?" Grbin once again stated the attitudes and policies of the SDP, concluding that this is a fight that the SDP will continue. It will continue in the Croatian Parliament, in the cities, municipalities and counties of Croatia where it will present its policies, blow on the government's neck because if it were not for SDP's pressure, there would be no increase for working on Sundays. He said the SDP would work on it "because it is our obligation, because it is the right thing to do, because the fight for workers' rights and the fight for higher wages is the most important fight that we politicians have to deal with today." Sanja Bježančević, president of sdp osijek-baranja county, commented on the forum, saying that sdp's proposal on reform of labor legislation is a priority topic for social democracy because sdp's task is to position itself stronger on economic and social topics and rights." Of course, the reform of labour legislation fits into this and not only with the aim of better working conditions in the field of employment, but with the aim of creating a society of fairness," she concluded. Bježančevič commented on the extremely poor socio-economic and demographic situation, saying that hundreds of workers were sent home or to employment agencies, and that today these people live on miserable pensions." Some other generations, younger generations today look for their work happiness if I can say so in the labor markets of some other countries, Ireland, Germany and so on because unfortunately there is no future for them here. Slavonia is truly demographically devastated, a bright working future awaits here only those with blue membership cards. The other day we had an example of data on monthly net paid salaries, so again in Slavonia, i.e. in Osijek-Baranja County, it is below the national average. Unfortunately, this is the reality we live, and I am glad that SDP is finally proposing concrete solutions to all the challenges that workers in the field of work in The Republic of Croatia face," she concluded. When asked by reporters, Grbin also commented on the attack on the Ukrainian Embassy in Zagreb, saying that this was, unfortunately, not an isolated incident." A few days ago, we witnessed in Spain how a series of letters of bombs were sent to the Office of the Spanish Prime Minister, the Ukrainian Embassy. After that, yesterday these horrific packages went to a series of Ukrainian embassies in a number of European countries. It is obvious that the war is coming out of the borders of Ukraine a little bit and we must all be aware of that. This war is happening, it has direct consequences on our lives through this price increase. He's here. And that is why we must condemn in the strongest terms those human scumbags who have decided to make such a disgusting move. These are not people, it is a lower level of existence when you do such a thing," Grbin said. Sdp vice-presidents Biljana Borzan and Sabina Glasovac also attended the forum.
