Berlin, 12 May 2021.

Jochen Haug, member of the Federal Executive Board and Vice-Chairman of the Bundestag Committee on Home Affairs and Home Affairs, expresses concern about the rise in extremist violence. Presenting the case numbers of politically motivated crime (PMK) for 2020 in Munich, Haug explains: "Politically motivated crime is at its highest level since the introduction of statistics in 2001. Violence has also risen sharply compared to the previous year. In particular, the 45.1 percent increase in left-motivated acts of violence to 1,500 offences stands out. Attacks on elected officials have increased by 87.9 percent. It has been shown in the past that politicians of the Alternative for Germany are particularly affected." In this context, Haug criticizes the one-sidedness of the fight against extremism: "Extremism must be combated holistically. Unfortunately, the violent left-wing extremism is still trivialized and downplayed by politics and the media. The focus of state anti-extremism prevention is the "fight against the right& #8216; from which the far-left scene often benefits directly. The AfD can expect further concerted actions by the so-called Antifa in the 2021 Bundestag election year." The article Jochen Haug: Far-left violence at its peak first appeared on Alternative for Germany.
