As the Interior Minister prepares to present reforms in the home affairs system, the Social Democrats warn that the mood of the officials remains depressing and 'smells like a strike' in the system, there are protests by officials, which is a symptom that the dialogue between the trade unions representing the officials and the leadership of the ministry is "still not changing"." Although Minister Agnė Bilotaitė boasts about the growing funding, we see that officials are warning both about a possible strike and are organizing protest campaigns on structural reforms.

Unfortunately, however, the minister repeats the mistakes of some of her fellow ministers and, instead of expanding the dialogue with the representatives of the officials, keeps repeating that there is no reason for discontent," notes Orinta Leiputė, dean of the Social Democratic Seimas faction.According to Kęstutis Vilkauskas, a member of the Seimas, the issues of abnormal loads are still not resolved, the problems of shoes and trousers and other issues of elementary provision of officials have not disappeared, but the ministry does not hide, that you want to save money by connecting services." Why should officials be satisfied if they are deprived of bonuses for degrees, bonuses for length of service to the State of Lithuania are reduced. And the head of the institution is endowed with absolute powers to decide at subjective discretion about the sizes (or minority) of salaries. We have repeatedly warned that such a reform of the civil service is simply destroying the exclusivity of the service, introducing private sector models in the public sector," the parliamentarian comments. As the officers of the Public Security Service (VST) prepare for the protest on Thursday, K. Vilkauskas points out that they "do not wrap their words in cotton wool" and call the planned connection of the VST to the police the "destruction" of the service." It is incomprehensible and unjustifiable that, in the face of the current challenges, when at any minute it may be necessary to mobilise all the forces responsible for public security, tensions are being raised in such important services, officials who are already lacking are demotivated, they are plagued by uncertainty about tomorrow. This means that there is no dialogue – again, something has not been fully done. If A. Bilotaitė does not change her way of acting and communicating, we will have the same rake situation: arrogance and unwillingness to listen push officials to think about the strike as the most effective means of communication," warns K. Vilkauskas. On Thursday, the Minister of the Interior will submit draft laws to the Seimas on the reform of the Public Security Service (VST). The officials of this service are organizing a protest campaign near the Seimas "Let's not play with fates".
