English below ***Statement of the executive board of the ELP, 18-19 FebruaryThe social and popular movement opposing the pension "reform" that Emmanuel Macron's government seeks to impose on the French people is historic, by the very important participation in strikes and demonstrations, by the massive popular support it enjoys, by the union unity that carries it and the commitment of all left organizations.

The next few weeks will be decisive: either the French government passes in force, or it is forced to withdraw its project. In both cases, it is delegitimized. The EL reaffirms its support for the social movement, the renewable strike and trade union and political unity for the immediate withdrawal of the French government's pension project. This is why he will be present at the demonstration in Paris on March 7. The EL is delighted to see the social question and the demand for another society, where our lives are worth more than the profits of capital, carried by social movements across Europe. It stands in solidarity with the mobilizations of British workers, who are waging a long-term struggle against the Conservative government and its anti-social and authoritarian project; he is also alongside the mobilizations for the defense of the public health system in Madrid, against the projects of the regional government of the Madrid right. All these battles are battles of society. They raise the question of the model of society. Do we want an every man for himself society, undermined by finance, the cost of capital and precariousness, where only those who are lucky enough to arrive in good health in retirement can benefit? Or a society of solidarity following the path of progress for all? Everywhere the ruling classes, with the support of the European Commission, are on the offensive; People everywhere are looking for ways of a social alternative. Throughout Europe, these offensives are particularly precarious for women. In France in their professional lives, women face many constraints at work, which not only do not allow them to build a career in good conditions, but also note that it deprives the world of work of considerable talents and strengths. Women's income remains on average 22 per cent lower than that of men. In France if women's employment rates and earnings were equal to men's, the France's gross domestic product would jump by 6.9%. Behind the battle for pensions, everyone can clearly see that this is a major ideological choice of society for all employees, for society. Other solutions are possible, tackling the cost of capital and leading companies and public services towards a path of social, viable and efficient progress, based on the creation of quality jobs, training, wage improvements. It is a common battle for all the peoples of Europe. The question of financial resources and the use of money in Europe, particularly that created by the ECB, and democratic and citizen control over this use, is therefore, more than ever, a central issue. The EL, in line with the political document adopted at the 7th Congress, reaffirms its commitment to the creation of a European Fund for Ecological and Social Development, for public services and for quality employment, financed by the ECB's monetary creation, and with democratic governance; and for a different selectivity of credit, favoring the bearers of job creation and training.
