Prague, 18 May 2008 February 2020 – Tomáš Tožička is the candidate of the Pirates in the supplementary Senate elections in Teplice.

Tožička's candidacy was also confirmed by the weekend vote of the National Forum of the Party. In the Senate, he would like to address mainly the issue of regional development, affordable housing, enforcement traps, strengthening participatory decision-making, promoting small and medium-sized business and environmental issues. Duchcovský native comes from a family that experienced persecution both during the Nazi occupation and during communist trials in the 1950s. During the period of normalization he pursued the working professions, he could study college only after 1989. In 1996 he graduated from the Evangelical Theological Faculty of Charles University." For the younger generation and the elderly, the problem is finding affordable housing. Therefore, municipal and cooperative construction needs to be strengthened. Targeted care also requires excluded locations. It is a combination of capacity strengthening and cooperation of the inhabitants there and responsible assistance of state and municipal components," said Tožička on the subject, which is closely linked to the North Bohemian region, adding that it will support the solution to the problem of enforcement: "In addition to the amendment insolvency law, the local jurisdiction of bailiffs must be introduced swiftly and unconditionally, with their uniform allocation of locally competent courts. Without this key amendment to the Code of Civil Procedure and the Enforcement Order, the execution pandemic can no longer be put under control." In the field of business, Tožička wants to focus on reducing bureaucratic burdens and supporting regional entrepreneurs. In addition, it wants to strengthen control over billions of transfers of companies that make profits abroad: "It is important that the tax authorities focus more on big players than small business owners and small entrepreneurs. The Czech Republic is one of the countries with the largest illegal outflows of finance in the world. According to conservative estimates, it is CZK 140 billion per year. To this, we must add another 200 billion in legal transfers from subsidiaries. Most illegal transfers can be avoided by increasing the capacity of tax authorities whose staff will be informed of the possibilities of preventing tax evasion." Because Teplice is one of the regions affected by coal mining, environmental reclamation is one of the key areas that The Tožička wants to promote in the Senate: "We need to start preparing for climate change and adapt ing to our behaviour. First of all, it is necessary to reduce and stop the extraction of coal and the operation of coal-fired power plants so that the transformation has a positive impact on the region and employees. Reclamation of mining works and extracts will improve quality of life and provide new jobs. We need to focus on research ing and developing new, energy-intensive materials." Pirates Chairman Ivan Bartoš on tomáš tožička's candidacy: "Tomáš Tožička is a man of high moral qualities behind whom there is real work. He participated not only in projects in the Czech Republic, but also in Africa. He built the Open World Community Centre in Litvínov, an asylum house for women and mothers in distress and a centre for international meetings in Most and participated in a number of other projects. Abroad he led the electrification of a school, clinic and community center in Zambia, a high school in Angola and nine other schools in Bangladesh. In addition to a number of humanitarian activities, he also stood at the birth of the debate on the participatory budget in the Czech Republic." Tomáš Tožička's candidacy was confirmed by the Pirates in the weekend vote of the National Forum of the Party." I appreciate party democracy in the Czech Pirate Party. Once again, it turned out that each member's voice can be heard with the Pirates as one of the few parties, and everyone has the opportunity to comment on the party's events. I am very pleased that members have considered the contribution of candidate Tožička's lifelong experience to shaping local and national solutions on such fundamental issues in human life. I wish the regional association and the candidate a success in the upcoming short and intensive campaign in Teplice and in the region where Tomáš Tožička has spent much of his life, as parts of the region are actually affected by the aforementioned problems. National policy cannot work without having its deep foundations in strong regions. The senator's position should reflect and link this regional and national level," Bartoš added.
