"The Modernisation Fund is a key tool for us in achieving our goals in the field of modernisation and energy independence.

The approval of another almost CZK 73 billion represents an important milestone for the Czech Republic. These funds will not only strengthen the development of renewable energy sources in manufacturing companies, households and the heating industry, but will also contribute to the long-awaited modernisation of public transport," says Minister of the Environment Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL). New photovoltaics: CZK 12 billion for energy for companies' own consumption, CZK 20 billion for family and apartment buildings in the National Institute of HealthOver CZK 32 billion will flow to finance renewable energy sources. More than CZK 12 billion has been earmarked from the approved investment package from the Modernisation Fund for the construction of photovoltaic power plants with an output of 50 kW to 5 MW, which will be used to address the companies' own energy needs. Another almost CZK 20 billion will be invested in the construction of new photovoltaic power plants on family and apartment buildings as part of the New Green Savings programme. To give you an idea, this is approximately 125,000 new solar power plants on the roofs of family houses. These investments will lead to the production of more than 2.11 gigawatt hours of energy per year and a reduction in emissions from COVlas, buses, trolleybuses and trams running on electricity or hydrogen. The EIB has also approved massive investments in the modernisation of public transport in Czechia. Support from the Modernisation Fund in the amount of CZK 15.1 billion is intended for the modernisation of rail vehicles with electric or hydrogen drive for regional passenger rail transport. Another CZK 7.3 billion will be invested in new vehicles for public transport, including battery or hydrogen buses, trolleybuses and trams replacing conventional bus lines. Promoting a sustainable industry. 12.5 billion will go to the heating industry, 6 billion to industryA number of individual projects aimed at saving primary energy and decarbonising the Czech industry and heating industry have also received support from the European Investment Bank." In the area of heating, investments in the amount of CZK 12.5 billion for four large investment projects were successfully defended, and in the field of industrial production, three projects with investment support in the amount of CZK 6 billion were successful," "The successful heating projects include the project of Mondi Štětí, which received funds in the amount of CZK 3.1 billion. The project focuses on the construction of a new heat source with a change of the fuel base from a mixture of brown coal and biomass to biomass. The source will be operated in a configuration with high-efficiency combined heat and power generation. The project will lead to an 89% reduction in COo emissions and a 95% reduction in primary energy consumption from non-renewable sources. In the field of industry, for example, the project to modernise the production of nitric acid by BorsodChem MCHZ received support in the amount of CZK 1.5 billion. The project deals with the construction of a new modern line for the production of nitric acid using catalytic combustion technologies of gasified ammonia. The concept of the line allows the use of reaction heat for the production of steam, which will be used for the turbocompressor's own propulsion, and the surplus steam will be used in the steam turbine for the production of electricity. The upgrade will reduce COo emissions by almost 60% and energy consumption by 35%." The approved individual projects in the heating sector will lead to a reduction in COo emissions of 658 kilotonnes per year and to a saving of primary energy from non-renewable sources by 8,019 terajoules per year. The industrial projects will result in a further reduction in COo emissions of 64 kilotonnes per year and a reduction in final energy consumption of 772 terajoules per year. The benefits demonstrate the effectiveness and importance of individual projects, but also confirm our efforts to achieve the goals of sustainable development and environmental protection," adds Petr Valdman, Director of the State Environmental Fund, whose office is a recipient of funds from the Modernisation Fund and administers the investments. The Modernisation Fund is an essential source of funds for ensuring the energy independence of the Czech Republic. It is already significantly helping industries, power plants, heating plants, as well as ordinary households with the transition to green energy from renewable sources. Together with the currently approved funds, the Czech Republic has so far received CZK 267 billion from the Modernisation Fund.
