The SFP board members of HYY's Board have worked hard until the end to get a majority behind a proposal to reject the proposal to close the Lohja maternity hospital.

There is great disappointment and dismay as it did not succeed."Lohja maternity ward has been an issue close to my heart. I am so sorry for all the women and staff of Western Uusimaa that we did not get the majority support of the Board. The Lohja maternity ward has been incredibly popular with both mothers and staff. Why close down what works best?, says Karin Cederlöf, SFP's representative from the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County on HYY's Board."It became clear from this discussion that HYY's Board is eager to centralise. The other parties have neither an understanding of service in Swedish, nor of safe care for all, from the cradle to the grave. Meilahti is full as it is, why should everything be centralised?, says Elin Blomqvist-Valtonen, SFP's representative from the Eastern Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County on HYY's Board. Due to insufficient funding, HYY has a great need for savings. Between 2025 and 2027, the economy will be balanced by SEK 225 million. SEK 55 million will be saved in the service network. However, Blomqvist-Valtonen and Cederlöf are relieved that both Porvoo Hospital and Lohja Hospital's specialist emergency medical care will be able to continue in their current extent. Thanks to the very hard work of both Cederlöf and Blomqvist-Valtonen, both hospitals will continue to offer round-the-clock anesthesia, surgery and internal medicine emergency services."Without SFP, both Porvoo Hospital and Lohja Hospital's emergency services would have been much tighter than the decision today secured. The original proposal we had on the table at the beginning of March would have destroyed both hospitals forever. We tried our best, but we didn't manage to secure the births," Blomqvist-Valtonen says. Cederlöf and Blomqvist-Valtonen are critical of the fact that the promised savings will be realised."In order for the Swedish-speaking population in Western Uusimaa to be able to live with this, HUS will have to review the Swedish-language services at its other maternity hospitals. Lohja maternity hospital has been the only maternity ward where you could rely on getting service in Swedish, Cederlöf concludes
