A village hall project in the village of Mont is making headlines local news.

This Monday, September 20, during the Municipal Council, the majority presented the final project, which is furiously approaching 2.5 million €... Through the Ensemble Pour Yvoir group, our DéFI elected representatives Bertrand Custinne (Group Leader) and Thierry Lessire (Social Action Advisor) denounce what they call the "failed bet" of the majority. Explanations: This file, desired by the villagers for nearly 20 years, is part of the PCDR 2012-2022. His study began at the end of 2016 under the leadership of Bertrand Custinne, at the time Alderman in charge of Rural Development, to lead, in September 2018, to a project that was "the common denominator of the wishes of local associations". This was estimated at €2.3 million. According to the current majority, a last estimate in 2019 showed €2.5 million; too high for her. It therefore took the decision to stop the ongoing study (for which planning permission had been granted) and to relaunch a new market with the objective of not exceeding a budget of €2 million. If this one is commendable, the elected EPY have always said that it would be very difficult to achieve it, except to cut back on the quality, the surfaces and / or the equipment. Not to mention the cost of the 1st study (127,000 €!) which was now "in the trash". History has finally proved them right because after seeing the budget grow over the months, the file now amounts to 2.430 million € with a municipal share of about 1,130,000 € (*), as much as in the first project... except that the current one is much less equipped and versatile (reduction of half of parking spaces, removal of HoReCa equipment and furniture that will have to be taken care of by local associations, removal of the stage and audiovisual equipment initially planned, removal of the playground, etc.). For Bertrand Custinne, "the majority, even when it was still in opposition under the old mandate, swore to us that we could do as well for less; today we are almost as expensive but less well! Thierry Lessire, also a resident of the village and head of an association interested in the future room, remains in favor of the realization of the file but deplores what he considers to be "a waste of time and efficiency at a time when every euro must be optimized and used wisely". For him, it is unfortunate to spend the same amount of money on a lower level of features.
