A few weeks before the Bundestag election, a "Flyerservice Hahn" of the AfD offered its services and promised to distribute flyers of the AfD for the Bundestag election at an acceptable price in the households. Several orders for a total of more than 1 million flyers were placed. Today it turned out that this flyer service does not exist and apparently behind the "action" are the self-proclaimed artists of the "Center for Political Beauty". For this purpose, a website has been faked with great effort and illegally the VAT number of a completely ignorant entrepreneur has been used. The flyers should obviously never be distributed. On Tuesday evening before the Bundestag election, the relevant district associations and Bundestag candidates of the AfD were informed by e-mail that the flyers could not be distributed "for organizational reasons". The flyers could then be returned on the Saturday before the election. Federal spokesman and top candidate Tino Chrupalla explains: "For flyers that are not delivered, but returned to the AfD on the Saturday before the Bundestag election, it is no longer possible to organize timely distribution. This makes them useless for our election campaign. This is exactly what is obviously important to the people behind this action, which include representatives of the so-called Centre for Political Beauty. They are deliberately trying to harm the AfD in the election campaign – and with a high degree of fraudulent energy. This unprecedented action does not only affect the AfD. Considerable damage to democracy has already been done here. If a party is prevented by private individuals from advertising itself with more than a million printed flyers, then this is a massive intervention in the democratic election campaign and thus an attack on our democracy!" Federal spokesman Jörg Meuthen adds: "In the election campaign, all parties must be able to freely advertise themselves and their positions. Only in this way can they fulfil their constitutional mandate to participate in the political decision-making of the people. Anyone who deliberately obstructs a party through criminal acts is not only liable to prosecution, but also directly harms our liberal democracy. This is unacceptable. All citizens who rightly condemn anti-democratic actions of this kind have the opportunity on this election Sunday to send a signal against it – by voting for the AfD. And that's a good thing." The Federal Office will promptly file a criminal complaint and examine the further legal procedure.
