On Saturday, on the eve of Palm Sunday, members of the Branches of the Croatian Democratic Christian Party in Okučani, Nova Gradiška, Slavonski Brod, SPS and Garčin, on the eve of Palm Sunday, handed out olive branches to the citizens, a symbol of Jesus' solemn entry into Jerusalem, but also of his torment and death on the cross.

The locals of Okučani said they were pleasantly surprised by the gesture of the HDS members.The president of the HDS branch of Brod-Posavina County, Vlado Hruban, the president of the Branch of Slavonski Brod Ivana Čabaj and the president of the NoviRadish branch, Mario Magdić, with members of the branch, wanted to beautify the feast of Palm Sunday or The Lord's Sunday to the NoviRadiščani, so they handed out olive branches. On the eve of Palm Sunday, the holder of the list for the City Council of Slavonski Brod Antonija Iličić and Slaven Seronček, the holder of the list for the Municipal Council of Sibinj, the Vice President of the HDS Podruznice BPŽ Sandra Kostadinović and members of the HDS branch of Slavonski Brod handed out olive branches to the People of Brod, but they also wanted to delight the youngest, so they handed out toys suitable for the upcoming Easter holiday. Although in Slavonia it is customary to tie twigs from nauseans, in memory of christ's torment and the beginning of Holy Week, believers are happy to wear olive branches for blessing.
