Israel says it is fighting the terrorist group Hamas, but has struck hospitals, ambulances and aid agency transports in Gaza.

70% of those killed in the bombings are children and women. According to Save the Children, just over two percent of Gaza's child population has been killed or injured. Israel has been tried before the International Court of Justice for genocide. In order to cross the threshold for condemnation, Israel must be shown to have acted deliberately to commit the genocide of the Palestinian people. The material submitted to the International Court of Justice includes numerous statements by representatives of the Israeli regime about the desire to exterminate or forcibly displace the population of Gaza from Palestine.– An entire generation of Palestinians is being exterminated in Gaza. The number of child victims, more than 13,000 children killed, is higher than in all the world's wars combined in 2019–2022, says Li Andersson, chairman of the Left Alliance.– As the UN Special Rapporteur on the Palestinian territories has stated in his report, there are reasonable grounds to believe that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.70% of Gaza's residential areas have been destroyed. Israel has forced four out of five Gaza residents to leave their homes and move across the narrow strip to increasingly restricted areas. Most of Gaza's more than two million inhabitants are now packed into Rafah on the Egyptian border, where Israel has now, despite almost unanimous condemnation from the international community, carried out air strikes and is preparing a ground offensive. "It is clear that disapproval alone is not enough to stop the bloodshed in Gaza," Andersson said. "The European Union and the rest of the international community must impose substantial economic and diplomatic sanctions on Israel. Israel must be forced into a permanent ceasefire and humanitarian access to the region. The free trade agreement between the EU and Israel must be frozen. Finland must promote sanctions and immediately stop all arms trade with Israel. Finnish higher education institutions should break off cooperation with Israeli universities in the same way as they have done with Russian universities. Li Andersson
