Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, today is the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp.

Anniversary. Let us remember the 20th century. The darkest period in the European history of the 21st century, let us remember the world's most famous lynching of the 19th century. Between 1941 and 1945, more than 400,000 Hungarian Jews were deported and murdered with the help of the Hungarian authorities. In Auswitz-Birkenau, more than a million people were killed, one in three of them Hungarians. The brutal killings were prepared by the Jewish laws enacted by the Hungarian Parliament. It is our shared responsibility to face honestly what has happened and not to pass on responsibility to others, as ner does through the history-forging memory policy. We must not forget that hungarians were the victims and the murderers. It's the only way to avoid a tragedy happening again. Let us remember together our compatriots who died in the labour service, in the deportations, in death camps and in mass executions.
