In today's parliamentary debate, Sanja Radolović spoke about inflationary pressure on the standard of citizens.

During the debate in the Croatian Parliament, she pointed out on behalf of the SDP Club that the ruling price monitoring was introduced only 3 months after the introduction of the euro, although the SDP had asked for it a full year earlier, as Slovenia had done, since such a scenario of uncontrolled price growth was obviously clear to everyone but the ruling party." The result of this "inflation of greed" is the fact that since then Until today, Croatia has the second highest inflation rate in the EU. On top of that, faster price increases than wages have reduced citizens' purchasing power and living standards, and pensioners are barely making ends meet." What is particularly amazing, radolovic says, is the fact that the decline in living standards occurred in a situation in which Croatia achieved one of the higher growth rates, over 6% of GDP growth." When you look at the statistics, Croatia is the record holder in the European Union for increasing household expenditures. Namely, compared to the pre-pandemic 2019, the growth of household consumption is 28%, while in the EU this growth was 11%, and the increase in food prices was as much as 42%. It is clear as day that wage growth was slower than inflation, i.e. It was much slower than real estate prices. As much as 90% of our population does not have individual creditworthiness to buy the first property, and over a million people in Croatia pay more than 40% of income for housing costs. At the same time, due to the inability to acquire the first real estate through credit debt or paying rent, young people in Croatia are the last in the EU to leave joint housing with their parents, the average age at which young people leave the "parent nest" in Croatia is 32 years. These are all things that the HDZ authorities should have taken care of and offered a solution to, but as we can see, the problems were not solved, but they did not even think about these pressing issues. So it is very easy to conclude: The population is credit incapable of solving the housing issue, inflation is the second highest in the EU, pensioners on the verge of starvation, and the HDZ boasts of GDP growth.
