The Lithuanian Green Party calls on the Minister of Health to supplement the list of priority population groups to be vaccinated with the COVID-19 disease vaccine.

It is proposed to include representatives of culture and tourism and the staff of sports clubs." In our assessment, this list should be supplemented to include more important groups in society, not limited to medical professionals, patients, teachers, policemen, retailers. Several very important groups of persons with many social contacts due to the nature of the activities carried out are representatives of culture and art, tourism sector, sport and physical education," says Jūratė Mažeikytė, Chair of the Culture Committee of the Lithuanian Green Party. A party spokeswoman welcomes this practice, but notes that it would be much more rational to compensate for vaccination rather than testing employees, thus investing in the development of immunity." These sectors are among the most affected by the restrictions imposed during quarantine and still in place. To date, there is no clear state aid strategy and vision for the future in these sectors. When considering aid measures, only temporary "day-to-day" assistance is targeted or abandoned as a priority in other sectors," says J. Mažeikytė. The letter addressed to the Minister of Health proposes to add to the list of population groups vaccinated against COVID-19 disease by including: guides, tour guides, art performers, event leaders, informal education representatives (and staff of adults, not just children, as is currently the case), museums, theatres, galleries and other cultural and religious institutions, staff of sports clubs and other physical education activities (including personal trainers working under business licenses).
