The meeting was organized by members of the Saeima group leader Linda Oak (JKP), citing the AREM head of the Russian political refugee, Dmitry Savina's call. Members of the Saeima, including conservative members Jurim Juraff, Jutai strii, Gatim egly, and Normundam Žunnam, were presented with an in-depth analysis of the theme "Interpol as a tool for political repression of the Russian Federation in the European Union Territory '. The head of MEP Linda Oak welcomed the work of the AREM by explaining the risks to Russian political refugees. The representatives of the AREM invited Latvia to assess and guide the necessary amendments to the legal framework, which would enable political refugees to defend themselves against Russian represpplifing institutions. Dmitry Savin explained how Russia used legal Interpol tools to continue to persecute Russia's political refugees beyond its own country. In comparison with other Member States, Russia conducts a disproportionately large number of searches in the Interpol system, which implicitly refer to Russia's active efforts to combat the opposition, whose representatives are most likely to seek political asylum in the ES and the United States. However, unjustified applications in the Interpol system violate not only the fundamental right of people to freedom of movement through the law enforcement authorities, but also infringe on people's rights to privacy, and often restrict their ability to use banking Services, and to work in business. The Members present in the responsible parliamentary commissions, asking for an in-depth analysis of this situation and assessing the need to improve the existing framework, as well as the attention of the other Baltic parliamentarians on the issue, inviting Coordinated action.
