Announcement on the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus AKEL commemorates the victims of the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus.

The Greeks of Pontus suffered the organized policy of extermination implemented by the New Turks by the method of exile, slaughter, extermination and hanging. Cyprus, by unanimous resolution of the Parliament, recognized in 1994 the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus. We support the struggle for international recognition of the Genocide of the Greek Pontians. On this occasion, AKEL addresses a greeting of solidarity and friendship to all Pontians living in our country. We welcome the cultural action of pontian associations on our island to preserve their identity, history and heritage, which is also a wealth for our country.
