It is a particular irony of fate that in the history of the Czechoslovak People's Party, in the selection of presidents who have fundamentally positively influenced its politics and direction in the post-November period, the key role of the party congresses, which took place as extraordinary.

They were actually a reaction to a crisis situation where the party lacked a clear and supporting direction. Although previous proper descents seemed to determine the direction and generated a key figure in the forehead, the opposite was true. Such a situation first occurred in 1990, when the spring Prague congress confirmed Josef Bartončík, chairman of the Czech Republic, the leader of the pre-November Revival Stream in the party, which in revolutionary days replaced the leading pro-communist leadership. However, after the unveiling of his cooperation with the StB, an extraordinary congress was convened in September to Žďár nad Sázavou, who elected Josef Luxe, a key figure in the folk politics of the 1990s. However, an electoral cataclysm followed a year later, and the extraordinary congress (not by chance) again in Žďár nad Sázavou was to lead the People's Party out of the deepest crisis in history in November 2010. It was only the election of Pavel Bělobrádek and his subsequent successful campaign back to the Chamber of Deputies and the government that the desired fruit was brought to the government. A similar situation, but for completely different reasons, occurs this time. After the party's years-long Bělobrádkov leadership and the gradual decline in KDU-ČSL preferences up to the lower five% threshold, last March's congress in Brno was to be a new major impetus. party bureau. However, the new impetus in the form of preference growth in the polls did not come even in the coming months. At the end of September, mark excellent's family was struck by a tragedy in the form of the sudden death of his wife. His November decision to give priority to family and children over the management of the party was seen as a high moral stance. But few of the people enjoy the situation in terms of starting points, getting out of it. You can read the full article here.
