F-35 aircraft are a very expensive toy that we buy without a plan, without a tender and no offset.

Members of the National Defence Commission were not informed of any details of the Contract. The Polish army still lacks missile defenses, ships and drones.– The purchase of F-35 aircraft has already been hailed by the PiS government as a huge success, and we want to add a spoon to this barrel of honey, if not the little work – he told the conference Andrzej Rozenek, a Member of the Left from the Committee on National Defence. – I say this as Vice-President of the Committee on National Defence that the committee has not yet received any information regarding this contract and the Minister of Defence refused to tell the Committee on National Defence what this contract looks like or whether it is offset whether it is not, what is the purchase price. I must admit that this fact was appalled not only by opposition Members, but also by PiS Members. The Commission was classified, but such cases should be disclosed. The second point is a matter of priorities. The Polish army is underinvested, for a long time nothing was bought that our army is much needed. There are no air and missile defense kits, there are no long-announced helicopters, no ships and artillery and drones. Meanwhile, we buy a very expensive toy. New planes are needed, MIG-i have to leave and be scrapped, we know that the F-16 is not enough. But setting priorities indicates common sense or lack of reason in the people who manage the army. The F-35 aircraft is expensive, complicated and not useful in defence, its purchase proves that the priorities of the army's managers stand on their heads and not on their feet. The Polish defence strategy was adopted in 2014 and was approved by President Bronisław Komorowski and was good at that time. But a lot has changed since 2014 and we have been waiting for a new strategy, but we have been hearing for several years that it will be ready any day. And large purchases for the Polish army should correspond to the national defense strategy, but they can not, because it is not there. It seems that this is an ad hoc purchase, made not for military purposes, but for improving our relations with the US.– It seems that the purchase of F-35 aircraft is carried out without a tender, without technology transfer and without a plan – said Mr Together, Maciej Necessary. "We will all bear the costs of this reckless decision. If we believe the media reports, because only on them we can rely on them, we are talking about 18 billion zlotys for the planes themselves, and this is only part of the cost to make these machines useful. For this money, a minimum pension of PLN 1600 could be provided for all pensioners, or 75 000 much-needed housing could be built. These are expenses for which money in the budget is missing. The left is not naïve pacifism, for us the modernization of the Polish army is also a priority. All the more so we can not afford such reckless expenses. Minister Blaszczak, speaking about this purchase over the last year, assured that there would be an offset. Offset will not, as well as the transfer of technology and the Polish industry will not gain anything from it. So why haven't alternatives to the purchase of F-35s such as Eurofighter and Gripen? Why at no stage was there any alternative, what are the negotiations? This means that the Polish government has passed at the mercy of the American people. So was the decision to purchase this in the best interests of Polish society, or only in the interest of American corporations? No tender and no plan indicates this. The F-35 will look great during the parade, it will be a great picture in the media, and the government bought itself a very expensive toy, unfortunately at the expense of our safety. We have a reasonable expectation that such tenders should be transparent within the limits of security. In many countries, during such procedures, the public knew what the alternatives were. So we deserve clarification.andrzej rozenekarmiaf-35koaliw club left-wing national defense committeeMaciej Koniecznymaciek necessary mariusz błaszczakministry ministry of national defense monsejmsejm sejm rp
