The Unity List is extremely pleased that a comprehensive agreement has now been reached to restrict young people's access to the purchase of nitrous oxide.

Now the focus must also be on prevention and advice to young people. The Unity List's health spokesman, Peder Hvelplund, says:– It has been important for us that we have reached an overall agreement with several initiatives. When you see the amount of empty nitrous oxide containers floating in the street picture, it is clear that only a limitation in the quantity that may be sold will help. And then the age limit of 18 years to buy as well as a ban on selling nitrous oxide along with intoxicants are important signals to send. This will undoubtedly limit accessibility and thus consumption. The responsibility is also placed in the right place, namely the seller, who can now risk a hatching fine in the event of an infringement. That is why it is important that we continue to focus on strengthening preventive action in the municipalities through SSP cooperation. We also need to have better and more uniform counselling and treatment efforts for young people who have ended up or risking abuse. Overall, however, it is a good agreement and an important step in preventing young people from ending up in a harmful abuse.
